The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Modakeke has been drawn to the clandestine move of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Ademola Adeleke to illegally remove Alhaja Ibrahim Araokanmi as the duly recognized Iyaloja of Modakeke Land and install one Mrs. Saratu Saminu as the new Iyaloja.
For the records, the succession of Iyaloja in Modakeke Land is sequel to the approval of the Ogunsua of Modakeke and not that of any government official, it is therefore an aberration and a disrespect to the throne of our revered father, Oba Joseph Toriola, Ajibise Ogo 1, the Ogunsua of Modakeke for a purported installation of a new Iyaloja, moreso that the incumbent Iyaloja is alive, hale, healthy and actively coordinating the activities of all market women in Modakeke, albeit successfully.
Alhaja Araokanmi, the duly recognized Iyaloja who was installed as Iyaloja by Oba Dr. Francis Olatunji Adedoyin, has served meritoriously for close to 2 decades without a single petition from any quarters against her leadership or person.
It is therefore, surprising that the Adeleke-Led Osun State government is bent on destroying the peace of Modakeke by illegally installing a new Iyaloja for Modakeke, an action which threatens the existing peace of our dear Modakeke and the cordial relationship which exists between market women and traders in the community.
Documents reveal that the palace of our revered Royal Father, Oba Dr. Joseph Toriola, Ajibise Ogo 1, the Ogunsua of Modakeke has dissociated itself from the purported installation of a new Iyaloja as there is a subsisting judgement restraining anyone from installing a new Iyaloja pending the determination of the substantive action.
To this end, we urge the Osun State Government and Governor Ademola Adeleke not to destroy the peace of market, we are aware that Mrs. Saratu Saminu had a party on saturday claiming same to be in celebration of her installation as the new Iyaloja, this celebration is a mere gathering of unscrupulous elements who do not have the love of Modakeke at heart. Removing Alhaja Araokanmi as the duly recognized Iyaloja of Modakeke on the allegation of her associating with stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress in the town is a misuse of power taken too far, an act of intimidation which the All Progressives Congress frown against in its entirety.
We therefore advise Governor Ademola Adeleke to shelve the decision to install a new Iyaloja as it is now glaring that this action is against the noble wishes of Modakeke market women and traders, these market women and traders are critical stakeholders in Modakeke and their welfare, peaceful co-existence and cordial relationship should remain a matter of critical concern to any well meaning government and governor.
