A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency and 2027 House of Representatives aspirant, Francis Damilare Eniade, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Oba Phillip Adegboyega Famodun, the Owa of Igbajo Land and immediate past Chairman of the APC in Osun State.
Eniade, who described the late monarch as “a father, leader, mentor, and political compass”, said the news of his demise came as a devastating blow not only to the progressive family but to the entire people of Osun State.
According to him, Oba Famodun’s passage represents “an irreparable loss to traditional leadership in the state, the progressive fold, and to everyone who had benefitted from his exceptional wisdom, courage, and statesmanship.”
He noted that as the Owa of Igbajo Land, Oba Famodun embodied dignity, integrity, and an uncommon commitment to the peace and development of his town, just as he also looked out for the welfare of his subjects, while his years as APC Chairman laid the foundation for stability and cohesion within the party.
Speaking further, Eniade described the late monarch as his political father whose guidance shaped his political journey.
“Kabiyesi was more than a leader to me. He was my father, my advisor, my source of strength. Every step I have taken in politics carries his imprint. His departure has created a vacuum that no one can easily fill,” Eniade lamented.
He added that Oba Famodun would be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to progressive ideals, his courage in defending democratic values, and his principled leadership at a time the party needed stability the most.
Eniade prayed for the repose of the monarch’s soul and for God to grant the royal family, the Igbajo community, and the APC family the strength to bear the monumental loss.
