The Osogbo National Students Union (ONSU), Osun State Polytechnic, Iree Chapter, has conferred an Award of Excellence in Service on Alhaji Chief Kamarudeen Yusuf Efe, the Otun Babaloja of Sasa Market, Osogbo and Asoju Ataoja in all the Markets across Osogbo. The recognition took place on Thursday during the union’s annual Oroki Day Celebration held at the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree campus.
The distinguished honour, which celebrates exemplary contributions to community development and service to humanity, was presented by the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Adeagbo, who commended Chief Yusuf Efe’s unwavering commitment to the economic and cultural advancement of Osogbo and its people.
Speaking at the event, the President of ONSU Iree Chapter, Comrade Raji (Oppsy), expressed deep appreciation to Chief Kamarudeen Yusuf Efe for his outstanding leadership, philanthropy, and enduring dedication to the growth and progress of Osogbo. He noted that Chief Efe has remained a strong pillar of support for both the youth and the market community, demonstrating true passion for communal harmony and cultural preservation.
In his response, Alhaji Chief Kamarudeen Yusuf Efe thanked the students’ union for the honour and for their continuous efforts in promoting the values, culture, and heritage that define Osogbo. He further lauded the initiative of the young leaders for recognizing and celebrating individuals contributing positively to society.
Chief Efe reaffirmed his commitment to the vision and directives of His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, the Ataoja of Osogboland, promising to continue working tirelessly for the peace, unity, and progress of the community.
The event featured a colorful display of cultural performances, student awards, and goodwill messages from dignitaries, marking another successful edition of ONSU’s Oroki Day celebration — a festival that continues to foster unity and cultural pride among Osogbo indigenes and students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
