Veteran Nollywood actress Jumoke George has shared a moving account of a difficult period in her life, revealing the immense personal struggles she faced, including homelessness and hunger, even while in the public eye. In a heartfelt interview, George detailed how some of her colleagues provided crucial support during these trying times.
Speaking on Biola Adebayo's YouTube channel, Ent TV, the seasoned actress recounted a time when she was living in a church and battled with severe hunger. Desperate for a meal, she found her way to the home of fellow actor and producer Afeez Owo.
"When I used to stay in the church, I was very hungry," George shared, explaining the stark reality of her situation. "I went to Afeez Owo's house to eat."
She emphasised that while many people saw her, they were unaware of the silent battles she was fighting. "A lot of people used to see me, but they did not know what I was going through at the time," she stated.
In another instance of profound need, George recalled reaching out to actress Biodun Okeowo, popularly known as "Omoborty." With humility, she explained, "There was a day that I had to go beg actress Biodun Okeowo for money when I was hungry." She revealed that Okeowo responded with generosity, giving her a sum of 30,000 naira to help her through.
George's candid revelations shed light on the often-unseen struggles of public figures and highlight the spirit of camaraderie within the Nollywood industry, where colleagues stepped up to offer a helping hand when it was needed most.
