JUST IN: Bayelsa Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo Dies at 60

Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, has died at the age of 60 after collapsing in his office in Yenagoa on Thursday. Eyewitnesses say he slumped at work and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Security was tightened at the medical facility as top officials, including government aides, visited following the sudden death of the high-ranking official. Preliminary reports suggest a possible cardiac-related emergency, though no official cause has yet been confirmed.

Ewhrudjakpo had served as Bayelsa’s deputy governor since 2020 and previously represented Bayelsa West in the Senate. His passing has plunged the state into mourning as political leaders and residents await an official statement from the government.
