A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Osogbo Local Government, Hon. Ayodeji Abdulahi Olaiya (Ayonic), the CEO Ayonic Oil and Gas, has hailed the landmark Supreme Court judgment affirming the autonomy of local governments and upholding the legitimacy of elected APC council chairmen in Osun State.
Ayonic described the ruling as “a triumph for democracy, justice, and the voices of the grassroots.” He noted that the apex court’s decision, ordering the release of withheld local government allocations and faulting the Osun State Attorney General for lacking the locus standi to challenge the Federal Government, has restored hope to the third tier of government.
According to him, the verdict represents a significant victory not only for the APC but for the people of Osun State who have long yearned for effective, autonomous, and development-driven local government administration.
“This judgment signals a new dawn for grassroots governance. It reaffirms the sanctity of democratic institutions and strengthens the foundation of local development across Osun State,” Ayonic stated.
He congratulated all APC local government chairmen whose mandates have now been judicially validated, urging them to continue serving with dedication, transparency, and people-focused leadership.
Ayonic further called on all stakeholders to unite in the spirit of progress and ensure that the renewed autonomy translates into tangible development, quality service delivery, and strengthened governance across the state.
“With this victory, the future of grassroots development in Osun State is brighter. It is now time to channel this momentum into real transformation for our communities,” he concluded.
