The Oriaye Family Compound, Osogbo, on Saturday, 10th January 2026, held its annual New Year prayer to usher in the year 2026. Members of the family from within and outside Osogbo converged to seek divine guidance, peace, and progress for the family both at home and in the diaspora.
Delivering the sermon, Imam Monsuru Oriaye emphasized the importance of unity, love, and mutual understanding as the foundation for growth and development in any family. He noted that the forefathers of the Oriaye Compound would be proud of the prevailing peace and harmony among family members. The Imam urged everyone to continue to uphold love for one another in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He commended the elders of the compound for sustaining peace and unity and offered prayers for continued progress, long life, prosperity, and happiness for all family members.
In his address, Alhaji Chief Kamarudeen Yusuf Efe, Otun Babaloja of Sasa Market, Osogbo, and the representative of the Ataoja of Osogbo across all markets in the town, expressed appreciation to family members for maintaining the tradition of annual New Year prayers. He proposed that the family should set aside funds from the family account to provide a monthly salary for the Head of the Family, Alhaji Raimi Olaniyi, to support his welfare in his old age. Alhaji Chief Efe pledged to donate a sum of money to kickstart the initiative and promised to reach out to family members both at home and in the diaspora to ensure the sustainability of the scheme.
Responding, Alhaji Raimi Olaniyi, Head of the Oriaye Compound, expressed deep gratitude for the love and concern shown by family members. He thanked God for sparing his life and promised to continually pray for the peace, unity, and progress of the family. He also prayed for sustained development and success in the lives of all members of the Oriaye Family.
The event ended on a note of unity, renewed commitment to family values, and collective determination to promote welfare, peace, and development within the Oriaye Compound.
