A tragic incident has been reported in Ogun State, where a female corps member serving under Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has died following complications from a medical procedure.
The corps member, identified as Victoria Ariyo, was serving in Abeokuta South Local Government Area at the time of the incident. According to available information, the situation occurred last Tuesday after she reportedly underwent an abortion procedure that led to severe complications.
Sources indicate that her remains were buried at Kobape Cemetery, located along the Kobape–Sagamu Road in Abeokuta.
Authorities have since taken action, with the police confirming the launch of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. In connection with the case, an NYSC official, Abass Olalekan, has been arrested as inquiries continue.
