Police Officer Allegedly Killed by Wife After Domestic Dispute.


A tragic domestic incident has shocked residents of Nkongsamba after a police officer was allegedly killed by his wife during a dispute in the early hours of Sunday, March 8.

The victim, identified as Mathurin Bengono, a principal peacekeeper serving at the Nkongsamba 3rd Public Security Police Station, Cameroon reportedly died following a violent altercation with his wife during the night of March 7–8.

According to preliminary reports, an argument broke out between the couple at their residence. During the confrontation, the officer’s wife allegedly stabbed him, inflicting injuries that led to his death.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody and is currently being held at the Central Police Station in Nkongsamba, where she is being questioned as part of an ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the body of Bengono is being transported to the morgue as authorities await the arrival of his father and other family members.



The incident has sent shockwaves through the community of Nkongsamba, particularly because it occurred on the same day the world marks International Women’s Day, a global observance that celebrates women’s achievements and advocates for gender equality.

Local residents and colleagues of the deceased officer have expressed disbelief and sadness over the tragedy, calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal confrontation.

Police say more details will be released as the investigation progresses. Authorities have also urged families to seek peaceful ways to resolve domestic conflicts to prevent such tragedies.

The case remains under investigation.
