When I was Looking For A Child, I was Taken To A Prophet Who Asked Me To Remove My Clothes - Ayilara

Nollywood actress Adenike Sherifat Ayilara has opened up about her prolonged struggle with fertility and a disturbing encounter she experienced while seeking spiritual help.

Ayilara shared her story during an interview on Talk To B on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, where she spoke candidly about the emotional toll of trying to conceive again after waiting many years to have her first child.
According to the actress, the desire to expand her family led her to explore various avenues in search of a solution. She explained that after giving birth once following a lengthy period of waiting, she hoped to have another child but encountered difficulties.
“I really tried because I tried and tried almost 50 times. There is no prayer mountain that I didn’t go, despite being a Muslim and my husband is a Muslim. My husband’s mother are those who even cover their face. I would sneak out to prayer mountains from one mountain to the other,” she said.

Ayilara described how her determination pushed her beyond the religious boundaries she was raised in. Although she and her husband practice Islam, she admitted that desperation led her to attend Christian prayer gatherings and seek spiritual intervention outside her faith tradition.
She recounted that during this period, she visited numerous prayer centres in hopes of receiving divine intervention. However, one particular experience stood out as the most unsettling.
In Ayilara's words, “The highest experience I had was when I was taken to a prophet on the mountain and the prophet asked me to kneel down and I did,” she said.
According to her account, the situation became uncomfortable when the prophet allegedly instructed her to adjust her clothing in a manner she found inappropriate. Ayilara indicated that she became uneasy, especially as she felt the cleric’s attention on her appearance.

“He asked me to pull up my clothes. I know how beautiful I am and how people compliment my beauty. I noticed the prophet has been looking at me since, and when it was my turn to see him, that was what he asked me to do,” she narrated.

The actress suggested that the request made her suspicious about the cleric’s intentions. While she did not provide further explicit details during the interview, she implied that the experience raised red flags and made her question the legitimacy of some individuals who present themselves as spiritual leaders.
Ayilara’s revelation has sparked conversations on social media about the vulnerability of individuals facing fertility challenges and the potential for exploitation in unregulated religious settings. Many listeners of the interview expressed sympathy for her ordeal, while others emphasized the importance of seeking medical guidance alongside spiritual counsel.
