Reports reaching Idealplusgist confirm that the Etsu Sonfada of the Nupe Kingdom, Mahmud Abubakar, has passed on, throwing the Bida Emirate into mourning.
Reacting to the news, Niger State Governor Umaru Bago expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, who also chairs the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers.
He described the death as a painful loss not only to the Nupe Kingdom but to the entire state. The governor also sympathized with the deceased’s family and the Bida Emirate, urging them to remain strong and prayerful during this difficult time.
Governor Bago noted that the late Abubakar made meaningful contributions to the development and progress of both the Nupe Kingdom and Niger State, adding that his legacy will endure for years to come.
He encouraged the family to uphold the values the late traditional ruler embodied and prayed for the forgiveness of his sins, asking that he be granted eternal rest in paradise.
