Legal practitioner Pelumi Olajengbesi has accused the administration of former Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola of mismanaging and squandering public funds meant for infrastructure and healthcare development.
Speaking on _Point Blank_, a flagship program on Fresh 104.9 FM, Olajengbesi said the Oyetola-led government owes Osun residents an explanation for what he described as irregularities, corruption, and financial recklessness during its tenure.
He commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for ending the financial mismanagement he inherited, stating that Osun residents are fortunate to have a leader who is channeling public funds into tangible development.
The spokesperson of the Imole Campaign Council (TICC), also alleged that the previous administration squandered a $20.5 million health grant received in 2019, which was intended to rehabilitate primary health centers and improve grassroots access to quality healthcare.
“We inherited primary health centers in shambles. A few that were supposedly renovated were only repainted,” he said. “Instead of abandoning them, Governor Adeleke declared a state of emergency and renovated over 200 PHCs. His efforts were recognized twice with PHC Leadership Awards, which came with a $1 million reward.”
He also praised Adeleke’s commitment to accountability and transparency, noting that the impact is visible across the state.
“The clearance of salary and pension backlogs, along with ongoing infrastructural growth, has been possible because of his resolve to use public funds for public good. From agriculture to health to education, Adeleke’s impact is evident everywhere,” Olajengbesi added.
