The Super Eagles of Nigeria successfully defended their Unity Cup crown with a commanding 3-0 victory over Jamaica at the Valley Stadium in London, clinching the 2026 title in emphatic fashion.
The win marked another chapter in Nigeria’s dominance of the competition, as the Super Eagles secured a fourth Unity Cup title and maintained their status as the only nation to have won the tournament since its inception.
Unlike last year's final, which was decided by penalties, Nigeria’s Team B settled the contest within regulation time thanks to a clinical display led by Alhassan Yusuf. The midfielder scored twice, while captain Terem Moffi added a goal to complete a memorable night for the Nigerian side.
Nigeria got off to the perfect start when Yusuf capitalized on a defensive error in the third minute. The midfielder reacted quickest after the Jamaican goalkeeper parried a header into a dangerous area, firing home for his first international goal in 10 appearances.
Despite Jamaica’s efforts to respond, the Super Eagles remained disciplined and dangerous on the counterattack. Their dominance was rewarded in the 58th minute when Moffi powered home a header from Femi Azeez’s cross to double Nigeria’s advantage.
Yusuf then put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time, producing a brilliant solo effort to complete his brace and cap off an outstanding individual performance.
The victory extended Nigeria’s unbeaten run against Jamaica to six matches and further underlined their superiority in the fixture. It also provided a major confidence boost as the Super Eagles continue preparations for future international assignments.
Nigeria will now turn their attention to upcoming friendly matches against Poland in Warsaw and Portugal in Leiria on June 10, giving the coaching staff another opportunity to assess the squad ahead of future competitions.
