Osun Guber Poll: Ataoja Urges Voters to Shun Violence, Embrace Peace


The Ataoja of Osogboland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, has called on the people of Osogbo and Osun State at large to conduct themselves peacefully as they exercise their civic responsibility in today’s governorship election.

The monarch urged eligible voters to come out in large numbers to cast their ballots for candidates of their choice without fear, intimidation or violence.

Oba Larooye II made the appeal while speaking with newsmen at his palace in Osogbo on Saturday.

The Ataoja stressed the importance of peace and unity before, during and after the election, urging all stakeholders, political actors and voters to respect the electoral process and accept the outcome in the spirit of democracy.

He further called on security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and credible exercise, while encouraging voters to remain law-abiding throughout the electoral process.

The monarch expressed confidence in the people of Osun State to demonstrate political maturity and ensure that the election is conducted in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect.
