The Brave Women Progressive Association is set to unveil plans for the construction of two major bus stops in Osun State, in honour and memory of the late Mrs. Nnenna Esther Adeleke (née Akpara), the first woman to give birth to two different governors in Nigeria, and Late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke (Serubawon), the first civilian Governor of Osun State. and the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
The association will officially unveil the projects and present its programmes and activities to members of the public on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Imole House, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, Osun State.
According to the association, one of the proposed bus stops will be located in Osogbo, while the second will be situated in Ede, the hometown of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
The initiative, according to the leadership of the association, is part of its efforts to contribute to the development of communities in the state while preserving the memories and legacies of individuals who have made significant contributions to Osun State.
Speaking ahead of the event, the President of the Brave Women Progressive Association, Evang. Matilda Farinde, said the programme was designed not only to launch the construction of the two bus stops but also to introduce the association and its activities more widely to the people of Osun State.
Farinde explained that the association considered it important to engage the public and formally announce some of its
community-oriented initiatives, including the construction of the two bus stops dedicated to the memory of the late Mrs. Nnenna Adeleke and Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
She said the projects were conceived as a way of honouring the memories of the deceased while also providing facilities that could serve practical purposes for residents and commuters in the affected communities.
“Our motive is to let the people of Osun State know about the activities of the Brave Women Progressive Association and, at the same time, officially launch the building of the two bus stops in memory of the late Mrs. Adeleke and Senator Isiaka Adeleke,” Farinde said.
The association noted that the proposed projects are intended to go beyond commemoration, as the bus stops are expected to provide useful public infrastructure for residents and other road users.
The event at Imole House is also expected to provide an opportunity for members of the association, community leaders, invited guests and members of the public to learn more about the organisation's objectives, programmes and plans for community development.
The Brave Women Progressive Association further stated that the unveiling represents an important step in its commitment to supporting initiatives that can positively affect communities and improve the well-being of residents.
The association called on stakeholders, women groups, community members, traditional and religious leaders, invited guests and members of the public to attend the programme and witness the formal unveiling of the projects.
