The Oriaye Mosque in the Oluode/Owoope area of Osogbo has installed Alhaji Imam Musliu Adekojo as its new Chief Imam, in a ceremony that brought together Islamic scholars, traditional representatives, community leaders, market stakeholders, women and youths.
Imam Alhaji Musliu Adekojo was formally installed on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Oriaye Mosque by the Naibul Imam of Osogboland, accompanied by the Mufasir of Osogboland, acting on the instruction of the Chief Imam of Osogboland and Osun State in general, Imam Musa Animasahun.
The installation marks a new chapter in the religious leadership of the Oriaye Mosque, with community members expressing confidence that the new Chief Imam will contribute to the promotion of Islamic teachings, unity, peace and greater participation in religious activities.
Speaking at the occasion, the new Chief Imam, Imam Alhaji Musliu Adekojo, was described as a committed religious leader with a strong disposition towards promoting Islam and its doctrines. His emergence, according to those who spoke at the ceremony, is expected to further strengthen unity and peaceful coexistence among worshippers and residents within the Oriaye community.
The ceremony also highlighted the importance of cooperation between religious institutions, traditional authorities and community stakeholders in sustaining peace and development in Osogboland.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Alhaji Chief Kamarudeen Yusuf Efe, Otun Babaloja of Sasa Market, Osogbo, and representative of the Ataoja of Osogboland in markets across Osogbo, expressed appreciation to the Ataoja of Osogboland, His Royal Majesty Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, for his tremendous support towards the success of the installation.
Chief Kamarudeen Yusuf Efe also acknowledged the contributions of the APC Osun Central Senatorial Candidate, Kunle Rasheed K-Rad, SAN, as well as the Chief Imam of Osogboland, Imam Musa Animasahun, the Naibul Imam and the Mufasir of Osogboland.
He extended appreciation to Alhaji Aliu Afolabi, Chairman of the Planning Committee for Osogbo Oroki Day 2026, for his support and contribution to the occasion.
He further commended the wives of the Ataoja of Osogboland, particularly Olori Kafayat Oyetunji, described as a daughter of Oriaye and a mother to the compound, for her consistent support and commitment to the Oriaye compound.
The family also expressed gratitude to the HRH Oba Oluroki of Sapoyoro Osogbo, Head of Ratibi, Alhaji Surajudeen Ademola (Oloye Irorun), Dr. Tajudeen Arikalamu, Islamic scholars, Alfas, Ratibis, the Alasaro of Osogbo, Oriaye women and other women around the compound for their roles in making the installation successful.
Special recognition was also given to the Oriaye youths, Oriaye Club 18 and other members of the community who contributed to the success of the ceremony.
The family described the gathering as a demonstration of the collective commitment of the Oriaye community and its supporters to religious harmony, respect for traditional institutions and peaceful coexistence.
The installation of Imam Alhaji Musliu Adekojo is therefore expected to usher in renewed efforts towards strengthening Islamic activities at Oriaye Mosque while promoting unity, peace and communal participation.
The family expressed appreciation to everyone who attended the ceremony, offered prayers, provided support or contributed in one way or another to the successful installation of the new Chief Imam.
