The National President of Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU), Alhaji Lateef Olalekan Olayanju, has invited commercial motorcycle riders operating in Osogbo to an important security meeting scheduled to hold today, Wednesday, November 4, 2026, by 10am, at the palace of the Ataoja of Osogboland.
The meeting is aimed at addressing the growing concern over the use of face coverings by some commercial motorcycle riders while conveying passengers.
According to the OPU President, the practice of covering their faces while operating commercial motorcycles raises serious security concerns, as it makes it difficult for passengers and other members of the public to identify the riders.
This development, if left unchecked, could create security loopholes and pose potential threats to the safety of residents and visitors in Osogboland.
The meeting will therefore provide an opportunity to engage motorcycle riders, discuss the security implications of the practice and collectively explore measures to safeguard lives and property in the ancient city.
Alhaji Olayanju emphasised the importance of cooperation between motorcycle riders, community leaders and relevant stakeholders in promoting security, public safety and peaceful coexistence in Osogboland.
All commercial motorcycle riders in Osogbo are urged to attend the meeting as their cooperation and participation are considered crucial to achieving a safer community.
