Oyewo Congratulates New UNIOSUN Acting VC, Prof. Bello


The Lawmaker representing Irepodun/Ọlọrunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Olubukola Oyewo, has congratulated Prof. 

Adefemi Afeez Bello on his appointment as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of  the Osun State University (UNIOSUN). 


In a statement in Osogbo, the lawmaker said he is confident that Prof. Bello would deploy his wealth of experience in lifting the fortunes of the great citadel of learning, describing his appointment as another great milestone in the history of the university, being ‘the youngest person to pilot the affairs of the institution since her establishment'.


He said, “I congratulate you on your appointment as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Osun State University. This is a well-deserved appointment, as your wealth of experience and commendable engagement within and outside the university community has prepared you for this enormous responsibility.


"As a renowned academic, there is no doubt that you will bring your expertise as a scholar and manager of people to bear in your new role as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University.”


The acting VC, Professor Adefemi Afeez Bello, a 45-year old Professor of Geotechnical Engineering who hails from Ilobu in Irepodun Local Government of Osun State, was appointed after a council meeting on Tuesday, 2nd of November. Until his appointment, Bello was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Development) of the university.


In his words, Oyewo said, “your commitment to transforming the education sector and the institution is commendable. I am confident that you will excel and ensure peace, prosperity and enhanced infrastructural development of the University that will be a citadel for our youths from all over the country.”


Hon. Oyewo expressed hope that Prof Bello’s “position as the newly appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor would motivate more Nigerian youths to embrace tertiary education. It is our hope and expectation that you will put your leadership skills to bear and continue to make the university a pace setter in the nation’s educational sector.”
