It has been one year since Engr. Olalekan Abdulrahman Badmus FNSE assumed the role of Executive Director of Marine and Operations at the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA). During this period, he has not only excelled in his professional capacity but has also made significant contributions to the well-being of his community, proving that leadership extends beyond the office and into the hearts of the people.


Upon his appointment, many wondered how Engr. Olalekan would impact the people of Osogbo and its surroundings. Skeptics were soon silenced as he demonstrated a deep commitment to improving the lives of those around him. His passion for giving back to society became evident through various empowerment initiatives and support for education and local businesses.


One of his most notable achievements was his support for local businesses in Osogbo, and Olorunda Local Government and it environs, Engr. Olalekan Abdulrahman Badmus equipped several men and women with the necessary tools and resources to thrive in their respective businesses. This not only helped improve the local economy but also provided people with the means to sustain themselves and their families.


In addition to business empowerment, Engr. Olalekan demonstrated a strong commitment to education. Understanding the importance of education for the future of the youth, he sponsored over one hundred students from Osogbo and its neighboring areas to take the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination. He went a step further by offering financial support to those who performed exceptionally well in the exam, ensuring they had the opportunity to pursue higher education.


His philanthropic efforts extended beyond Osogbo, as he reached out to other communities including Olorunda, Irepodun, Orolu, and other parts of Osun State. Engr. Olalekan’s door has always remained open, allowing the people to voice their concerns and seek his support. He has shown unwavering dedication to attending local events and functions, further cementing his position as a true servant leader who does not shy away from his responsibilities.


A recent highlight of his philanthropic endeavors was his sponsorship of the Ilerioluwa Empowerment Initiative, which empowered women in Olorunda Local Government. Olalekan, also played a significant role in supporting the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola, in his mission to uplift the people of the state. Engr.
