The final rites of passage for the late matriarch of the Alfonso family began on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025, with a wake-keeping service at the Desef Event Centre, located opposite George and Duke Akala Express, Ibadan, which commenced at 4:00 pm. The following day, Friday, January 24th, 2025, saw a moving funeral service held at the CAC WOSEM Church, Challenge, Ibadan. Afterward, family, friends, and well-wishers gathered at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Center, Ibadan, for a reception in honor of the late Chief Mrs. Alfonso.
In his tribute, Adebayo Alfonso, visibly emotional, described his late mother as a symbol of grace, kindness, and unwavering love. He fondly remembered her as a woman who was an epitome of humanity, always guiding her children with wisdom and compassion. "My siblings and I will deeply miss her, as she was not just a mother but the very foundation of our lives. Her teachings and nurturing spirit will continue to guide us," Adebayo stated.
He also expressed profound gratitude to all those who traveled from near and far to pay their respects and celebrate the life of his late mother. "We are humbled by the overwhelming support and presence of everyone here today," he added. "It is a testament to the impact she had on all who knew her."
The ceremony brought together dignitaries, friends, and family, who joined in remembering the remarkable life of Chief Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo Comfort Alfonso, a woman whose legacy of love, strength, and kindness will forever be cherished.
