APC chieftain from Osun east senatorial district, Dr Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe has hails appeal Court judgement that reinstate the duly elected chairmen, vice chairmen and councilors under the platform of the All Progressive Congress.
He congratulates all the returning local government boss and our great party in Osun state for the sound and sweet victory.
He appeals to the national Assembly to do everything within their power to ensure local government autonomy becomes a reality and praised the recent supreme Court judgement that barred the 36 state governors from further retaining or utilising funds meant for 774 LG as a welcome development.
The Prince from Iloko Ijesa, expressed optimism that the implementation of the judgement would usher in effective development at the grassroots level.
According to Dr Ogungbangbe “financial autonomy will surely aid development at the grassroots level, no doubt. That is the school of thought to which I belong.
It was a good initiative by the Federal Government to free 774 LGAs from the apron strings of the State Governors, who had been successively muzzling the growth of LGAs by tinkering with the funds meant for the operations of the third tier of government".
He commends the leadership of APC in the state for believing in the rule of law and appeal to the party loyalists in the state to be law abiding at this celebrating moment.
He charges the law enforcement agency to be neutral at this critical moment.
