Three Dead, Eight Injured in Early Morning Shooting at Brooklyn Restaurant

A tragic shooting early Sunday morning at a Caribbean-American restaurant in Brooklyn left three people dead and eight others injured, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD).

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. inside Taste of the City Lounge, located at 903 Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood. Authorities said multiple gunmen opened fire inside the venue, prompting chaos as patrons fled for safety.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed that at least 36 shell casings were recovered from the scene. The victims include three men—aged 27, 35, and one whose age has not been confirmed—who were pronounced dead at the scene or shortly after. The eight injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.

No arrests have been made, and the suspects remain at large. The NYPD has launched an active investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward.

"This is, of course, an anomaly,” said Commissioner Tisch during a press briefing. “Thank God we have the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year that we’ve seen on record in New York City. But what happened here this morning is a terrible tragedy.”

Taste of the City Lounge, which opened in 2022 and is known for Caribbean cuisine, a full bar, and live DJs, had reportedly closed around 3 a.m., just before the gunmen entered.

Footage shared on social media showed the aftermath, with NYPD officers surveying a scene marked by broken furniture and shattered glass.

The investigation is ongoing.
