Bimbo Ademoye Pays Tribute to Her Father: “He Was Both My Mum and Dad”

Acclaimed Nigerian actress Bimbo Ademoye has opened up about her deeply personal upbringing, revealing the powerful and inspiring role her father played in her life. In a moving reflection that has touched many hearts, Bimbo shared how her father became her entire world after her parents separated when she was just two years old.

Growing up without her mother, who left shortly after the separation, Bimbo was raised solely by her father – a man who not only took on the role of provider and protector, but also nurtured, supported, and loved her with unwavering dedication.
“My Dad became both mother and father. He would carry me to school, cook for me, plait my hair – he did everything,” Bimbo said. “There was nothing he wouldn’t do to make sure I didn’t feel the absence of a mother.”

In one particularly emotional memory, Bimbo recalled an incident during her early school years when pupils were asked to bring in a "Mother’s Contribution" for a school event.

“I cried because I didn’t have a mum there. But my Dad wiped my tears and said, ‘Don’t worry, I will be your mummy too.’

True to his word, her father showed up the next day at school, took care of the contributions, and stood in that space with pride – leaving teachers and classmates stunned by his commitment and compassion.

“Everything I am today, it’s because of him,” Bimbo declared. “I love my Dad with all my heart.”

Bimbo’s story is a powerful testament to the strength and resilience of single parents, particularly fathers who rise beyond societal expectations to raise children with grace, love, and integrity. It also serves as a reminder that family is not defined by traditional roles but by sacrifice, devotion, and unconditional love.

As Bimbo continues to shine on screens across Africa and beyond, she remains grounded in the love and values instilled in her by the man who was both her mother and father.
