The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed recent speculations regarding his health, describing reports of hospitalization and a heart attack as completely false and misleading.
Addressing the rumours during a public appearance, the Minister clarified that his recent trip to the United Kingdom was a personal break—one he deliberately took without any official files or work obligations, for the purpose of rest and recuperation.
“Since I assumed office as FCT Minister, I’ve never taken a holiday without working—always travelling with files to attend to official matters. This time, I made a conscious decision to travel without any files in order to properly rest. Before I knew it, stories began circulating that I was critically ill and had suffered a heart attack,” Wike stated.
The Minister emphasized that he remains in excellent health and fully committed to his responsibilities in the FCT. He urged the public to disregard baseless reports and advised media practitioners and social commentators to verify information before dissemination to avoid causing unnecessary public concern.
The FCT Administration reiterates its commitment to transparency and will continue to provide timely updates on the Minister’s engagements and public activities.
