According to a report from The Punch, Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have responded strongly to the demands made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and his allies, ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking during the inauguration of the PDP National Convention Planning Committee on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, emphasized that the party will not yield to arrogance, impunity, or divisive actions.
He stressed that the PDP remains united and resolute in enforcing internal discipline.
“We will no longer allow anyone to take us for granted,” Governor Mohammed declared. “Enough is enough. We are not cowards, and we are not afraid of anybody.
We are determined to move this party forward, beyond the shenanigans, arrogance, and impunity of a few individuals.”
He reiterated the governors’ commitment to ensuring a successful and credible national convention, stating that they are working closely with the planning committee to safeguard the party’s integrity.
“We cannot continue to allow ourselves to be led to the slaughterhouse,” he said. “It’s our responsibility to stand firm.”
This comes in response to a set of conditions issued by Wike’s camp, which includes demands for strict adherence to zoning arrangements, fresh and transparent congresses in Ebonyi, Anambra, and Ekiti states, and recognition of the outcomes of the South-South Congress.
The group warned that failure to meet these conditions could jeopardize the legitimacy of the convention, urging that unity must be built on fairness, transparency, and inclusivity.
