The political atmosphere in Ondo State has been enveloped in grave tension and growing apprehension as disturbing reports reaching us indicate an alleged grand plot by the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to manipulate and doctor the forthcoming APC House of Representatives Primaries scheduled for Saturday, 16th May, 2026.
This alarming development, if allowed to stand, threatens not only the sanctity of democracy within the All Progressives Congress (APC), but also constitutes a direct affront to the authority and democratic directives of the APC National Leadership and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
It is on record that the APC at the national level unequivocally adopted the Direct Primary System for the conduct of its primaries nationwide. Therefore, the desperate attempt by the Ondo State Governor to allegedly subvert this transparent democratic process raises serious questions about his loyalty to party supremacy, constitutional order, and internal democracy.
Information available to us reveals that certain returning officers have allegedly been compromised and strategically positioned to execute this anti-democratic agenda through the fraudulent use of photocopied result sheets in place of the officially authorized originals. The sinister objective, we are informed, is to unlawfully alter results and impose candidates allegedly handpicked by the Governor across the federal constituencies in Ondo State.
This is not merely political manipulation; it is a dangerous assault on democracy, a reckless abuse of power, and an open invitation to chaos capable of tarnishing the integrity and credibility of the APC in Ondo State and beyond.
We therefore issue this strong warning and clarion call to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC National Headquarters, security agencies, civil society organizations, the media, and all lovers of democracy across Nigeria to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing any attempt to sabotage the democratic will of APC members in Ondo State.
Let it be clearly stated that all aspirants and their loyal supporters are fully prepared to resist and expose any illicit, unlawful, or manipulative acts orchestrated to undermine the credibility of the primaries. Comprehensive and unprecedented monitoring mechanisms have already been put in place across all polling units in Ondo State.
Advanced Hi-Tech Surveillance Cameras, Drone Monitoring Services, independent situation rooms, and coordinated grassroots intelligence networks shall be deployed to ensure total transparency and accountability throughout the exercise. Every vote shall count, every manipulation shall be exposed, and every anti-democratic actor shall be held accountable before the law and the Nigerian people.
Democracy must not be sacrificed on the altar of personal ambition.
Ondo State belongs to the people — not to political emperors, desperate power merchants, or enemies of democratic justice.
