The disturbing information reaching us from credible political circles has once again exposed the alarming state of affairs in Ondo State under the current administration of His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Yesterday at Heritage Hotel, Ijapo Estate, Akure, a foremost APC chieftain from Idanre and a known close ally of Mr. President reportedly condemned the Governor in the strongest possible terms, accusing him of turning Ondo State into a dangerous breeding ground for occultic and anti-democratic activities, all in desperate pursuit of political advantage ahead of the APC primary elections.
The respected party stalwart did not mince words as he openly challenged the Governor’s alleged disregard for the directive of the APC National Working Committee, which had clearly adopted Direct Primaries as the approved mode for the party’s electoral process.
This raises a fundamental question before the conscience of the people:
How can a man who once benefited immensely from the same constitutional and party-backed declaration suddenly become the loudest opponent of that very system simply because it no longer serves his personal ambition?
This hypocrisy is not only shameful but dangerous to the democratic integrity of Ondo State.
Even more troubling is the growing atmosphere of intimidation, suppression, and fear currently spreading across the State. The Nigerian Constitution guarantees every citizen the sacred rights to freedom of speech, expression, and association. Yet, under the administration of Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, these constitutional liberties appear to have been suspended in practice.
Today, the media in Ondo State is under siege.
Voices of dissent are being gagged.
Journalists operate under fear.
Citizens are threatened into silence.
The government appears intolerant of criticism, allergic to accountability, and hostile to democratic engagement. The political climate now resembles a return to the dark days of military dictatorship — all under the disguise of a democratic government.
A government that cannot tolerate opposing opinions is a government drifting dangerously toward tyranny.
The people of Ondo State must rise with courage, vigilance, and unwavering commitment to democratic values. Silence in the face of intimidation only empowers oppression.
Ondo State belongs to the people — not to fear, not to intimidation, and certainly not to political desperation.
History will remember those who stood for truth when it mattered most.
