Osun: Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla Presents Cheques to Victims of Devastating Rainstorm in Osogbo and Environs


The Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, presented relief cheques to victims affected by the recent rainstorm disaster that ravaged parts of Osogbo and its environs.

The intervention, valued at ₦25million, was aimed at supporting families and residents whose homes, businesses, and properties suffered severe destruction during the rainstorm incident across communities within Osun Central Senatorial District.












It would be recalled that following the devastating rainstorm, the Ataoja of Osogboland, His Royal Majesty Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, Larooye II, constituted a five-man Relief Committee to assess the level of damage and coordinate relief support for affected residents. The committee was chaired by the Asiwaju of Osogboland and retired Justice, Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe.

Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony, Justice Adeigbe commended the Ataoja of Osogboland for his proactive leadership and foresight in setting up the relief committee. He disclosed that members of the committee embarked on extensive visits to all affected communities, documenting damaged properties and ensuring that deserving victims were properly identified for assistance.




























The retired jurist also praised Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla for what he described as a remarkable demonstration of compassion, responsibility, and commitment to the welfare of the people who entrusted him with leadership.
According to him, the Senator’s intervention would go a long way in cushioning the effects of the disaster on affected families and restoring hope to many residents.

In his remarks, the Ataoja of Osogboland, HRM Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, expressed deep appreciation to Senator Ajagunla for remembering the victims during their difficult period. The revered monarch described the gesture as timely, thoughtful, and worthy of emulation.

Kabiyesi also reaffirmed his support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while commending members of the Osogbo Rainstorm Relief Committee for carrying out their assignment diligently and transparently under the leadership of Justice Adeigbe.

The monarch further urged beneficiaries to utilize the financial support judiciously for the purpose for which it was intended, especially in rebuilding damaged homes and businesses.

While addressing the gathering, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla expressed gratitude to the Ataoja of Osogboland for his continuous fatherly support, prayers, and encouragement since his assumption of office at the National Assembly.

The Senator noted that he was deeply saddened by the scale of destruction caused by the rainstorm, which displaced families and damaged numerous properties across Osogbo and neighbouring communities. He explained that the ₦20 million intervention was born out of genuine concern for the welfare of the affected residents.

Senator Ajagunla reiterated his unwavering commitment to people-oriented representation and community development across Osun Central Senatorial District.

Highlighting some of his interventions since assuming office, the Senator disclosed that he had facilitated the distribution of not less than 12 transformers to various communities within the senatorial district and personally ensured payment for their installation.

He also revealed that some constituents had been sponsored to China for agricultural training, while several educational and infrastructural projects, including school construction and bursary awards for students in tertiary institutions, had been executed under his leadership.

The event attracted several notable dignitaries, including traditional rulers such as the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, HRM Oba Abdulrasheed Olabomi, the Olororuwo of Ororuwo HRM Oba Kamarudeen Adeyemi Adeyanju, the Oluresi of Iresi, HRM Oba Sikiru Adeseun Ibiloye, Eburu of Iba, HRM Oba Adekunle Okunoye and other royal fathers across the district.

Also in attendance were prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun Central, including Hon. Adeoye Adelakun, party chieftains, members of the Ataoja-in-Council, Baales, Iyalojas, community leaders, and other distinguished guests.
