2027 Election: Groups Set To Roll Out Medical Outreach For Elderly As Osun Takes The Lead

The Renewed Hope for Elderly and Senior Citizens, a sociopolitical group canvassing support for the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election, is set to extend medical support to elderly persons and senior citizens, including pensioners, across the country.

This was contained in a statement issued from the media office of  the Director-General and National Coordinator of the group, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun, during a press conference in Abuja to unveil the programme.

He commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for strengthening the National Senior Citizens Centre and introducing policies to improve the welfare of senior citizens. He also lauded the initiatives of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, which include programmes promoting women’s and children’s education, subsistence farming, and environmentally friendly activities among elderly citizens.

The Director-General bemoaned the fact that many elderly Nigerians continue to face neglect, poor healthcare, and economic hardship after retirement. He, however, expressed optimism that, with the Renewed Hope for Elderly initiative, such challenges will soon be a thing of the past.

The Coordinator further disclosed that the medical outreach for elderly and senior citizens will be flagged off in Osun State soon, with plans already in place to extend the exercise to all 36 states of the federation.

“We are encouraged by the ongoing conversations and policy directions aimed at improving pension administration and reforming retirement welfare to ensure that senior citizens enjoy greater financial security after years of dedicated service. We will ensure that these benefits get to the grassroots in all states of the federation,” he concluded.
