The Special Adviser to the Chairman of Egbedore Local Government, Hon. Fajobi Olusanjo Fajoe, has extended his warm congratulations to the good people of Egbedore Local Government, the people of Osun State, and Nigerians across the country on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.
In his Democracy Day message, Hon. Fajobi described June 12 as a significant milestone in Nigeria's democratic journey, noting that the day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by patriotic Nigerians who fought tirelessly for the entrenchment of democratic governance in the country.
He emphasized the importance of sustaining and strengthening democratic values, including the rule of law, accountability, transparency, equity, and active citizens' participation in governance. According to him, democracy remains the most viable system through which the aspirations and needs of the people can be effectively addressed by elected representatives.
Hon. Fajobi urged residents of Egbedore Local Government and Nigerians at large to continue embracing the spirit of democracy by supporting legitimate institutions, promoting peaceful coexistence, and participating actively in democratic processes. He stressed that the dividends of democracy can only be fully realized when citizens and government work together in an atmosphere of mutual trust, understanding, and shared responsibility.
The Special Adviser further commended the leadership of Egbedore Local Government for its commitment to people-oriented governance and developmental initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of residents across the local government area.
"As we celebrate Democracy Day, let us remain steadfast in our collective commitment to democratic ideals and national development. Democracy thrives when citizens actively participate in governance, respect the rule of law, and uphold the values of unity, peace, and progress," he stated.
Hon. Fajoe also called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and resilient despite the challenges facing the nation, expressing confidence that with unity, dedication, and responsible leadership, Nigeria will continue to make meaningful progress toward sustainable growth and development.
As the Osun State governorship election approaches, he urged the people of Egbedore Local Government and the entire state to support and vote for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, and his running mate, Aree Benjamin Kayode Adereti, in the forthcoming election. He emphasized that their victory would pave the way for effective leadership, good governance, and greater prosperity for the people of Osun State.
He concluded by wishing all residents of Egbedore Local Government, the people of Osun State, and Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Democracy Day celebration.
