The stage is set for the 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the LAUTECH Muslim Graduates Association (LAUMGA), as members from across Nigeria and beyond converge on Osogbo, Osun State, for a two-day gathering scheduled for Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13, 2026.
The event, which combines intellectual engagement, health awareness, religious activities and community service, is expected to attract members of the association, alumni leaders, professionals and distinguished guests from various sectors.
Announcing the programme in a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo, the Chairman of LAUMGA Osogbo Branch and Chairman of the AGM 2026 Local Organising Committee (LOC), Comrade Owolawi O. J., described the annual gathering as an opportunity for members to strengthen professional and spiritual bonds while contributing positively to society.
A major highlight of the AGM will be a special public lecture titled “Sunnah and Science: Preventive Care, Purity and Aging with Dignity in Islam.” The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Seriki Arazeem, FWACP (FM), MMCFM, a Consultant Family Physician and Head of the Geriatric Clinic at the University of Osun Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
According to the organisers, the lecture will explore the intersection of Islamic teachings and modern medical science, with particular emphasis on preventive healthcare, personal hygiene, healthy living and dignified ageing.
Activities for the first day, Friday, June 12, will commence with the arrival of members of the National Executive Council at noon. Participants will later observe the Jumu'ah prayer at the Lamenco Central Mosque, Osogbo, at 1:30 p.m.
In line with the association's commitment to humanitarian service, members will proceed to the FOMWAN Orphanage Home, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, for a visitation programme scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for members to interact with and support children at the facility.
The second day of the event, Saturday, June 13, will begin with a free medical test and health check-up for LAUMGA members at Atlantis Civic Centre, Ring Road, Osogbo, starting at 9:00 a.m. Health experts and medical professionals are expected to provide screenings and consultations aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles among participants.
The Annual General Meeting will follow at the same venue from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., where members will deliberate on the affairs of the association, review achievements, discuss future initiatives and chart a strategic course for the organisation.
The AGM will be graced by the Global President of the LAUTECH Alumni Association Worldwide, Dr. (Engineer) AbdulRahman Olalekan Badmus, who will serve as the Distinguished Guest of Honour.
The National President of LAUMGA, Engineer Muideen Aruna, will serve as the Chief Host of the event.
Organisers expressed optimism that the 26th AGM will further strengthen the association's commitment to faith, scholarship, community development and professional excellence, while fostering unity among Muslim graduates of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).
