Governor Ademola Adeleke was being sarcastic when he said Iwo looks like a village before the infrastructure intervention of his administration, his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has clarified.
He said the governor was responding to allegations of Edenisation by listing his infrastructure agenda as equitably spread all over Osun state, noting that key projects were executed at Osogbo, Ila, Ilesa, Ile Ife ,Ikirun and other towns and villages.
“When he was to mention Iwo, he looked at me and jokingly uttered those statements. The governor's infrastructure project was not about an individual but a state policy which he unveiled in 2023 covering all sectors of Osun society.
The governor had unveiled phase one and phase two of his multi-billion naira infrastructure agenda in both 2023 and 2024, all which are now largely completed across the state.
“Aside from the Iwo township road dualisation, Mr Governor had reconstructed eight other roads at Iwo. Upgrading Iwo infrastructure is a state policy, not an individual matter.
“The governor holds Iwo in high esteem and he has many top aides and officials from the town who jointly supported and promoted the administration’s ideal to take Iwo to greater height.
“I therefore urge our people to ignore those trying to make political capital out of mere sarcastic remarks. Our governor loves and highly respects Iwo people”, the spokesperson was quoted as saying.
