The LAUTECH Muslim Graduates Association (LAUMGA) has reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian service, community development, and the promotion of Islamic values through generous donations to the FOMWAN Orphanage Home in Osogbo and financial support for the development of the LAMECO Mosque.
The charitable activities formed part of the programmes marking the Association’s 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM), hosted in Osogbo, Osun State, on Friday, June 12, and Saturday June 13th, 2026.
As part of its longstanding tradition of giving back to society and supporting the less privileged, members of LAUMGA visited the FOMWAN Orphanage Home where they donated food items, children's materials, and cash gifts to support the welfare and development of the children under the care of the institution.
Earlier in the day, members of the Association, led by the National President, Engr. Muideen Aruna, and the Chairman of LAUMGA Osogbo Branch, Mr. Owolawi Abduljeleel, joined worshippers at the LAMECO Mosque for the Jumat service. During the visit, the Association donated the sum of ₦150,000 towards the development of the mosque. In addition, Engr. Aruna personally contributed ₦50,000 to facilitate the repair of the mosque's faulty sound system.
The Chief Imam of LAMECO Mosque expressed profound appreciation to LAUMGA for its consistent support and generosity toward the mosque and the wider Muslim community. He described the Association as a model Islamic organization that continues to demonstrate the true essence of service and charity.
He commended the Association's members for their dedication to community development and urged other Islamic organizations and well-meaning individuals to emulate LAUMGA's exemplary commitment to societal advancement. The cleric also offered prayers for Allah's continued guidance, protection, and blessings upon the Association and its members.
Speaking during the engagements, the National President of LAUMGA, Engr. Muideen Aruna, explained that the Association was established by Muslim graduates of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, with the objectives of promoting Islam, fostering unity among Muslim alumni, and contributing positively to society.
According to him, LAUMGA remains committed to strengthening the bonds among its members while extending meaningful support to communities and vulnerable groups across Nigeria and beyond.
At the FOMWAN Orphanage Home, the Chairman of LAUMGA Osogbo Branch, Mr. Owolawi Abduljeleel, appreciated the management of the orphanage for the warm reception accorded to the Association.
He noted that LAUMGA's Annual General Meeting rotates among various states of the federation and attracts members from across Nigeria and the diaspora. He explained that following Osogbo's selection as the host city for the 2026 AGM, members unanimously agreed to identify and support a Muslim orphanage home within the host community, leading to the choice of the FOMWAN Orphanage Home.
"We are delighted to be here today to share our love and support with the children. Although our gifts may be modest, they are offered with sincerity and compassion, reflecting our commitment to giving back to society," he stated.
Also speaking during the visit, Dr. Afusat Alabi, on behalf of the female members of LAUMGA, expressed gratitude to the management of the orphanage for welcoming the Association.
She emphasized that supporting orphanages and vulnerable children has always been an integral part of LAUMGA's humanitarian programmes. According to her, the Association has consistently extended support to the FOMWAN Orphanage Home, including during previous programmes held in Ogbomoso and other locations.
Dr. Alabi urged the orphanage management and children to accept the donations as a symbol of love, care, and solidarity from the entire LAUMGA family.
In her response, the Amirah of FOMWAN, Dr. Fauziat Adenike Subair, expressed heartfelt appreciation to LAUMGA for remembering the orphanage and extending support through the donation of food items, educational materials, and cash.
She described the gesture as timely, impactful, and highly commendable, noting that it would significantly contribute to the welfare and well-being of the children.
Dr. Subair also presented a Letter of Appreciation to the Association in recognition of its generosity and unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes. She prayed for Allah's abundant blessings upon the Association and its members and called on other Islamic organizations and philanthropists to emulate LAUMGA's culture of giving and social responsibility.
