Leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, LAUTECH Ogbomoso Branch, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to Ambassador Adejare Bello, the Bada of the Source and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The delegation, led by the Branch Chairman, Comrade Hamzat Oyelere Fajoye, met with the Ambassador at about 12:00 noon at his palatial residence in the Government Reserved Area, GRA, Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Comrade Fajoye was accompanied by the Branch Secretary, Comrade Jeleel Olusegun Owolawi; the Branch Treasurer, Comrade Samson Adediti Alabi; and a union elder, Comrade Tunde Akinlade.
During the visit, Comrade Fajoye formally presented the branch’s letter of invitation dated 4th July, 2026, inviting the Ambassador as the Distinguished Guest Lecturer for its maiden 2026 Annual Public Lecture.
He disclosed that the lecture is scheduled to hold on _Thursday, September 17, 2026_ at _Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso_, and is themed: _“Leveraging Digital Transformation for the Advancement of Nigerian Universities through Innovative Funding Models: The Strategic Roles of Key Stakeholders.”_
Comrade Fajoye said the Ambassador was selected in recognition of his distinguished record in legislative and executive governance, diplomatic service as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico, and his current strategic leadership as Chairman/Pro Chancellor of OAU. He added that his tenure as Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly reflected a wealth of experience in policy formulation, institutional governance, and stakeholder engagement.
He also disclosed that an award of honour would be bestowed on the Guest Lecturer in appreciation of his antecedents as a labour-friendly leader and his commitment to quality education at all levels.
*In his response, Ambassador Adejare Bello received the invitation with open hands despite his tight schedule.* He noted that it has always been his determination to contribute to the upliftment of society, especially in areas of education and people’s welfare, and confirmed that he had marked the date on his calendar.
The Right Honourable Speaker further stated that while it is not his style to seek awards and accolades, he would gladly accept SSANU’s honour because it comes from an academic environment where merit still matters. He expressed confidence that the lecture would provide practical perspectives on fiscal management, public-sector reform, and sustainable funding frameworks for Nigerian universities.
Comrade Tunde Akinlade, in his vote of thanks, appreciated the Bada of the Source for accepting to deliver the maiden Public Lecture and to receive the award. He said the union holds the High Chief in high esteem and promised that SSANU LAUTECH would strive not to disappoint him.
