It was a day of sadness and panic when the news of first covid 19 outbreak became an household discussion in the state, many were chanting chorus of alarm and whistle blowing while some are waiting for government intervention to restrict the spread of the virus.
Shortly after the first case incidence, different and difficult suggestions from all axis collided with political interests for salvation of osun people from contacting the deadly virus. And that's understandable.
In the time past, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola before the advent of the virus in Nigeria has invested hugely on the state health sector, bringing primary health centers across the 332 wards back to life, where many medical equipments was purchased to resurrect health care centers at the grassroots not minding the paucity of fund and state of osun resources, over 200 are ready before the lockdown, state general hospitals were not neglected which the development train also accommodated the state hospital Asubiaro, where today becomes the healing ground for victims of COVID-19 patients. Kudos to the excellent administrator, manager of men and scarce resources.
As a responsive and responsible Governor who understands the strategy of utilizing a basic and available resource in achieving goals, Mr governor immediately addressed COVID 19 by directing utilization of Ejigbo general hospital which accommodated many cases and eventually became a miracle center curing 17 people from covid19, incredible, yes, it wasn't a day job, but a dedication to overcome the satanic pandemic which has been claiming thousands of lives globally. You need to see the poor state of Ejigbo General hospital before November 27, 2018. Thank goodness, Oyetola intervened.
It's on record, that so far, Osun has not recorded a single death case arising from COVID-19, which is as a result of God's intervention and hard-working, dedicated and determined health workers and governor who value the lives of the people of the state than any other things, no wonder he quickly distributes palliative to thousands of households in the state, constituted a 21man relief committee to cushion the hardships of citizens, while he has also directed the concerned authorities to monitor the disbursement of FG cash relief transfer to over 15,000 vulnerable in osun, not minding the personal effort he has put in place to ensure no citizen suffers in this trying time. He is indeed full of compassion and very kind-hearted.
As a result of Oyetola's productiveness, he accommodated travellers coming into the state from cote D'ovier, placed them on isolation, gave them the best treatment and identified few who are coronavirus positive, this rescued Osun returnees could have increased the records into mass infection of innocent souls.
Osun government with the little availability of resources has proven to the world, how steadfast and responsive Oyetola without no traceable record of external financial support, today from 20 cases, Osun has just one active case left which from a reliable source is responding positively to treatment, suffice to say the person will test negative in a matter of days. Halleluyah.
The beginning of greatness in a state is to have a responsible man as your and my governor, the better the people and lives of residents. Oyetola is God sent at this material point in time, he acts more than he talks.
