Says change begins through becoming a part of the political process.
A student leader and former National Association University Students Deputy Senate President, Comrade Kunle Oyediran has urged students and youths from across the federation to take the bull by the horn by becoming a part of the political process, in order to be in a position to influence decisions from the bottom to the top.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, Comrade Oyediran; a member of the NANS 2020 Convention Planning Committee, in his reaction to the recent approval by the President Muhammadu Buhari as regards the APC membership registraion exercise said “with the recent news from Aso Rock, it is crystal clear the the APC is set to kickstart another round of party membership registration, and I believe it should be taken advantage of by all and sundry.
As a matter of fact, and in precise reference, I am urging students of the age of 18 and above to take this seriously and get into the partisan circle of the Nigerian Socio-political strata. Very recently not a few of us vented out our frustrations at a few affairs of our society which we were fed up with, now the time has come to take it a step further by taking part in the affairs from the cradle of political participation by joining a political party.
Speaking further Kunle Oyediran, a Public Relations Officer of OYE 4 OSUN Socio-political group in the State of Osun , advocated for the inclusion of students and youths of the age of political participation into the adhoc staff recruitment plan of the exercise, emphasizing the energy and capacity of the youths can be put to good use. “As this process begins I want to also urge the leadership of the party at all levels to make adequate plans that would befit the involvement of young persons in the membership registration process, both as ad-hoc staffs or as intending joiners.
Youths must be prepared to contribute their ideas and intellect into the running of party affairs, same way our leaders must stretch the hands of inclusiveness in the party polity. This is the sure way to a progressive society and we all must be ready to play our parts”.
