...as gov congratulates Osun photographers, videographers
The Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Friday described photo and video as essential to humanity, noting that the duo were as good and critical as life itself.
He said the celebration of Photo-Day is the celebration of life in its full radiance, beauty and functionality as, according to him, photo and video remain twin genres of life that help give aesthetics, meaning and description to life and help humanity to interact with, appreciate and preserve nature.
This is even as the Governor congratulated photographers and videographers in the State on the occasion of this year's World Photography Day.
World Photography Day is an annual, worldwide celebration of the art, science, magic, importance and history of cameras and photography in human lives.
Speaking during the 2021 Photo-Day, Awards Ceremony and launch of the Construction of the N50m Association of Nigerian Professional Photographers and Videographers’ Building, Osun State Chapter, Governor Oyetola noted that both photo and video have therapeutic effects as they help humanity to derive sense, joy and happiness from nature.
Represented by the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Engr. Olalekan Badmus, Oyetola said the importance of photography and videography makes photographers and videographers important to nature, life and living.
Commending the significant contributions of photography and videography to human emancipation and people's consciousness to socioeconomic development, Oyetola said, "I congratulate members of the Association for their vision of rendering service to humanity and ensuring a sustained career as professional photographers and videographers respectively."
The Governor added: "Let me commend your insight and proactive ability that have propelled you to re-invent, retool and rise to contemporary challenges and expectations and to remain relevant in the 21st Century technology-driven world.
"I must appreciate the foresight that informed the iconic Association Building, whose launch we are undertaking today. I am certain that the Building is a technology hub that will enhance your jobs and make you active contributors to the socioeconomic development of the State.
"The fund-raiser undoubtedly will deliver a befitting building and provide the requisite devices for the members. I therefore urge the distinguished guests and friends of the Association to contribute generously to the launch of the proposed iconic Building as their own inputs to the progress of the Association.
"The greatest symbolism of this iconic Building is its capacity to contribute to the growth and development of the Association and the profession. Let me therefore urge the Executives of this Association to find better ways to raise the capacity of members and the image of the Association while encouraging members to strive for improved performance and observance of professional ethics.
"Let me also commend the Association for incorporating Award ceremony into this programme. This initiative is a worthy one that will boost the morale of the winners. It will also motivate other members to give their best to the Association. When these two ends are vigorously pursued, the continued relevance of the Guild and the trade in the society will be sustained.
"I congratulate all the recipients at today’s Award ceremony and urge them to continue to contribute to the development and progress of the Association."
