The Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr Olabode Olaonipekun made this known while addressing journalist on the proposed agricultural and mineral resources fair at a press conference held in honour of unveiling the event.
Dr Olaonipekun said aside the particular focus on the Agricultural and Solid Mineral resources in Osun, the fair will also be open to all other states in the South West, and Nigeria at large to showcase their mineral and agricultural resources.
According to Olaonipekun, the trade fair, which in a way will be a follow up on the benefits accrued from the 2019 Osun Economic and Investment Summit is scheduled to hold between 16th and 28th November, 2021. The trade fair also promises to attract both local and foreign investors.
In his remarks, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food security, Hon. Dayo Adewole, lauded the initiative, describing it as a good platform for farmers in the State and in the entire South-West to showcase their products and services to the rest of the world.
Adding that, for the event to be successful everyone needs to be involved.
The Commissioner for Information and civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode who was represented by the Co ordinating Director Ministry of Information, Mrs Bukola Aderibigbe commended the initiative, adding that the last time something close to the event was done in the state was about two decades back.
Mrs Egbemode said the fair will serve as a veritable avenue for stakeholders in the agriculture and mining sectors to interface with other local, national and international role players.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Osun Investment Promotion Agency (OSIPA) , Mr Femi Adeniran said the trade fair is a good initiative as the fair will stimulate business activities in the state.
In the same vein, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mineral Resources, Hon. Wahab Oyeniyi sought for more encouragement in the Solid Mineral sector which will boost the economy of the State more as the State is naturally and abundantly endowed with an array of solid minerals.
In his remarks, the Chairman, House committee on Commerce, Hon. Lateef Jayeola, lauded the Oyetola-led government of Osun for its consistent drive and initiatives to get the state of Osun industrialized on all fronts.
While advising, Hon. Jayeola harped on the need to enlist greater participation of youths to further promote the youth development agenda of the government.
In his address, the President, Osun State Chambers of Commerce Industry ,Mines and Agriculture( OSUCCIMA),Elder Bisi Makanjuola stated that, the trade fair is being planned together with the Ministry to showcase the various endowments of the local Government within the South West Geo-Political Zone as this will not only bring attention to various products to be showcased but bring prosperity and awareness to various local government.
Speaking further, Elder Makanjuola said the trade fair intends to bring to fore, the value chain needed for each of the identified potentials.
A Consultant to the fair, Mr. Owoyemi Olalekan lauded the Osun government for its impact in both sectors even before the proposal to hold a fair.
At the event were the Coordinating Director of Ministry of Commerce, Mrs Kehinde Odediran, Directors in the Ministry and members of OSUCCIMA.
