The Member representing Irepodun/Ọlọrunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Olubukola Oyewo has congratulated Nigerians on the 61st anniversary of the country’s independence . He charged the citizens to live in peace and support the government in its effort to develop the Nation .
The Lawmaker in an independence anniversary message issued by his Media Office, and made available to the media charged the citizens to continue to promote peace and engage in a meaningful venture that would enhance harmonious relationship in the state and the country at large .
He said, ” the peaceful coexistence among the Nigerian people, particularly ethnic groups is very Paramount being that we are all Nigerians “.
The lawmaker urged Nigerians to join hands and support the All Progressives Congress ( APC) government in the country towards tackling social and infrastructural problems, security challenges and corruption among others as a way to attain growth and sustainable development .
According to him , the celebration of the country’s independence anniversary as a sovereign state is a positive development , adding that "the continued existence of Nigeria as one nation is undoubtedly not a common feat given the prevailing socio-political climate".
The lawmaker therefore thanked the past nationalists for their struggle for independence from the colonial masters, and also commended the various leaders after them for sustaining the momentum.
He advised the citizens to do away with acts that would truncate the nation’s peace, growth and development.
