Osogbo National Students Union (ONSU) National Headquarters has organized 2-days Diabetes medical outreach to sensitize the general public on the need to prevent the disease and the causes. The program was sponsored by Hon Dr Adewale Maruf Adebayo GANGARIA.
The two day program is an initiative of members of Osogbo National Students Union (ONSU), National Headquarters to create a very strong awareness about the causes, effects and prevention of the disease.
On Saturday 13th of November, 2021, there will be a free diabetes test for hundreds of people and free splits to over one thousand diabetic patients, while medical health practitioners will also be on ground to discuss extensively on how to prevent the monstrous disease which is reported, according to World Health Organization (WHO) kills at least 1 person in 5 seconds. The venue of this program is Ataoja's palace, Ọjà ọba, Osogbo by 10 in the morning.
Also on Sunday, 14th, Nov, 2021, the members of the union will embark on a sensitization/ awareness within the major streets of Osogbo metropolis to further take the enlightenment to the doors of indigenes and residents, especially to commemorate the 2021 World international diabetes day.
Hon Adewale, PDP House of Representatives aspirant for Osogbo/Olorunda/Orolu/Irepodun federal constituency in the upcoming 2023 general election described the program as a very significant initiative. He further said, " diabetes is a very deadly disease, the society must be aware of helpful health information about it, so as to reduce the risk of diabetes to the barest minimum"
Every 14th day of November is world's Diabetes day.
