The Osun-based sociopolitical group with devotion to good governance in the state, Ileri-Oluwa Vendors (IOV) has described the landslides recorded by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the All Progressives Congress (APC) party primaries conducted last Saturday in Osogbo as a reflection of an impressive pride of party members.
This description was contained in a congratulatory statement issued and made available to journalists in Osogbo by the General Secretary and Publicity Head of the organization, Jimoh Olorede.
Congratulating governor Oyetola on his overwhelming victory, the group described his success at the primaries as a testament to the confidence which APC party members in the state reposed in the governor's ability and leadership as an elected representative of the party.
According to the statement, the governor's winning by a heavy majority as evident in the largest landslides recorded in the history of the party's primaries in the state, and even beyond, shows the weakness of intra-party opposition in the state, just as it also affirms the Governor's popularity and acceptability among the members of the party.
The Director General of the association in the statement, Prince Dayo Babaranti restated the group's commitment to the canons of democratic ideals which are precursors of good governance.
"Oyetola's good governance resulting from his adherence to the canons of democratic ideals resonates with our philosophical objectives as a group, and this is the main reason why we support his government, and will continue to do so", the DG said.
Consequent upon the outcome of the last Saturday's primary election, the group urged intra-party opposition in the state to join hands with Oyetola for formation of a formidable team against inter-party opposition in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state, while imploring the governor to embrace his opponents, contestants and other aggrieved members of the party.
