Osun Amotekun parade nine suspects for various alleged offences


The Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps in Osun, on Monday, paraded a woman, 30, arrested over alleged possession of counterfeit currency notes.

The Amotekun Corps Commander in Osun , Dr Omoyele Adekunle, said the command also arrested eight other suspects for various offences.

He said that the command’s operatives acting on intelligence arrested the woman at Sabo market in Ilesa while using counterfeit N1000 notes to buy foodstuff.

Adekunle said the suspect when interrogated claimed to have received the fake Naira notes from one a woman in Abuja, who sent it to her  through a dispatch rider




The Amotekun Corps Commander said that the suspect alleged that she paid N50,000 for the N200,000 fake notes.

Adekunle further said that some other suspects were apprehended for offences which included; burglary and stealing; murder, motorcycle snatching, theft of transformer cables and attempted kidnapping .

He said that all the suspects would be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

Adekunle urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious happenings around their domain to security agencies.

He called for the collaboration of other sister security agencies to help secure lives and property in the state.

PROTOCOLS


Gentlemen of the press, I am pleased to welcome you to Amotekun Office for this press briefing, following my appointment as the 2nd indigenious Corps Commander of Amotekun in Osun State by the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke.


I intend to roll and abreast you with the achievements and breakthrough of the Amotekun Corps within the last one month. The efforts of the command in tackling crime and criminality had paid off many crimes were busted while many suspects in various cases were arrested. Similarly, some of their exhibits stolen were recovered.


The Corps, with the consideration of ember month's security challenges, has added pep in emplacing More strategies of traditional standards of patrolling.


Today, the Corps is glad to showcase some of these achievements with a view of keeping the general public in the know of the happenings and security situation of Osun State; and efforts to sustain the effective Security Network and to have public safety. It will also serve as detterent to others. Who might want to venture into such heronious crimes. Criminals can only run, but can't hide some of the cases include;


CASE OF CONSPIRACY STEALING/MURDER


On the 11/9/2024 at about 15000 HR information was received from a reliable source that one Olaniyan Afeez 37yrs a specialist in Motorcycle snatching and killing of his victims. The suspect confessed to the killing of scores of Okada Commercial Motorcycle riders by hiring his victims to undeveloped site under the pretense that he work in that site. He operates in Osogbo and environs. He confessed that after killing his victims, he used to sell the corpses or remains to an alfa in Kwara State He mentioned that he has killed more than fifteen (15) motorcyclists. He also commerce with some herbalist who also buy some human parts from him. Investigation is on-going




CONSPIRACY OF STEALING: One Babatunde Aderemi aged 45yrs and a native of Ikirun arrested along with the principal suspect one Olaniyan Afeez. He confessed to have met with Afeez Olaniyan while in the Correctional Centre at ilesa before they now met at ikirun after living the correctional home. He remarks that they were partner in progress in stealing.


MOTORCYCLE STEALING: On 30/8/2024, the suspect One Olatinwo Quy aged 19yrs 'M' a native of Apomu. He stole the motorcycle, of one llesanmi Oladele from where it was parked and took same to Ifo in Ogun State where the motocycle was sold. Suspect was arrested on 30/8/2024 through several decoys put in place by operatives of Amotekun. He confessed to the crime while efforts are being made to arrest his cohorts.


STEALING TRANSFORMER CABLES: On 8/9/2024, at about 0745hrs information was received from the palace of lla-Odo that the cable supplying current to the part of the town have been removed. Upon receipt of the information. Amotekun Operatives were drafted to closely monitor the area. The exercise paid off, as the suspect one Laisi Kazeem 'M' aged 20yrs was arrested in an attempt to flee to Ibadan with the stolen cables. Exhibit were recoerved from him. Case would be transferred for prosecution and report.


STEALING/ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING: On 15/9/2024 at about 1445hrs, One Rodiat Adenike Abdul Razak "F" a native of Osogbo reported that she met a man on facebook who promised to visit her from Lagos. The Suspect One Najeemdeen Shola Bankole Adeyemi aged 50yrs came to Osogbo and lured the complainant to a nearby restaurant where he stylishly collected her android phone and escaped. Upon the receipt of the complaints, Amotekun operatives track the suspect down from Lagos to Osogbo where he was arrested while trying to steal another phone from a Victim. He confessed to have been using trick on his victims by fraudulently lied to them with a fake facebook account. Our ladies should be careful of friend son facebook. He would be transferred for prosecution and Report.


FAKE CURRENCY NOTE: On 16/9/2024, at about 0945hrs a suspect One Rebecca Ako aged 30yrs 'F' was arrested at Sabo Marke, llesa while using fake #1,000 denomination to buy goods from innocent people. The suspect during interrogation confessed to have been indulging in the business for a long time. She confessed to be buying the fake currency from one Mrs Elizabeth who used to send it through despatched from Abuja. She said she used to pay Fifty Thousand Naira



which is original to collect Two Hundred Thousand Naira (#200,000.00) fake money. She has used the fake currency to enrich herself. Investigation is still on-going.


STEALING: On 19/9/2024 at about 1245hrs, one Tajudeen Riliwan 'M' aged 29yrs was arrested after removing a ceiling fan from a mosque at Omigade Area Osogbo, The suspect an ex- convict, confessed to have been stealing in religious houses most especiallt mosque. He confessed to have one time stole ken-wood engine in a mosques at Olokuta Mosque at Oja-Oba Area Osogbo. Investigation is on-going.

2.BIDEMI ADEBAYO 'M' 30YRS


FACT- On 20/9/2024 at about 0700hrs, the suspect one Adegboye Glory 'f' aged 19yrs a notorious shop breaker was arrested by operatives of Amotekun vhile on patrol at Ifesowapo Community opposite Magaji Arabic School, Iwo. The suspect was arrested with one Bidemi Adebayo 'M' aged 30yrs an accomplish in the business. She confessed to have been in the game of Burglary/Stealing for provisions were recovered from the suspect. Her modus oprandi is to break the wall of a shop targeted and entered through the role to steal from the shop. Investigation is on-going".
