Akol Lauds Tinubu, Commends Health Ministry for Timely policy implementation.

The Esa-Oke born politician and Healthcare Practitioner, Prof. Siji Olamiju, popularly known as Akol and who was in charge of Osun Public Health during  the Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola 

Administration  in Osun State has eulogised  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decisive leadership in the health sector.

 

Prof. Olamiju commended the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for swift action on the instant policy implementation of the Harmonized Framework concerning the Executive Order on Zero VAT for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Pharmaceutical products and healthcare consumables promulgated few weeks ago, now at gazette stage. 

In a statement issued to newsmen in Osogbo, Olamiju emphasized the importance of this policy in easing the financial burden on Nigerians reliant on essential healthcare  supplies. “This initiative is a remarkable step towards making quality healthcare more affordable and accessible for all citizens,” he stated.

The recently gazetted framework allows the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Nigeria Customs Service to implement zero VAT and excise duties on pharmaceutical products and medical devices. Olamiju observed that this move will enable local manufacturers to develop and grow, ultimately benefiting the nation’s healthcare landscape in Nigeria 

"The timely implementation of this policy reflects the Tinubu administration’s unalloyed commitment to enhancing the healthcare value chain and supporting local industries,” he added.

Olamiju expressed optimism that the policy would lead to a significant reduction in prices for essential medications and medical consumables. He called on all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring the successful rollout of these measures.
