Community News: Dwellers of Otuuru, Coker-Ijesa, Omu-Ijesa, Oduola-Ijesa, Anjo-Ijesa, Eripa-Ijesa, Oke-Ogbo, Oniyere Communities Sought the Intervention Osun Govt. Over Incessant Uses Of Farmlands For Cattle Grazing.

Dwellers of Otuuru, Coker-Ijesa, Omu-Ijesa, Oduola-Ijesa, Anjo-Ijesa, Eripa-Ijesa, Oke-Ogbo and Oniyere communities under Ilase-Ijesa have sought the intervention of Osun State government, authority of Obokun Local Government and all the security agencies in the state, to forestall communal crisis following incessant using of their farmlands for cattle grazing, which has repeatedly led to destruction of their farm products.

Baale of Otuuru, Coker, Ilase-Ijesa, Chief Oyeniyi Adetunji Olurin, who spoke on behalf of the heads of all the affected communities, made the call while speaking with OSBC news, on the negative impacts of the illegal and inhuman activities of the cattle rearers in the area.

According to Chief Adetunji Olurin, series of meetings have been held with Sheriki n Fulani of Osun State, Alhaji Dende and a leading cattle breeder in the area, Muhammed Fulani, also known as Soldier, to ensure compliance, but all the warnings against using other people's farms as grazing field, failed to yield any positive results.

The head of Otuuru. Coker Community, Ilase-Ijesa therefore warned that henceforth, cattle rearers should stop moving their cattles within Otuuru, Coker-Ijesa, Omu-Ijesa, Oduola-Ijesa, Anjo-Ijesa, Eripa-Ijesa, Oke-Ogbo and Oniyere Communities, in order to forestall communal crisis in the area.

Chief Adetunji Olurin, who expressed unhappiness that since majority of the landmass in the area have become residential area, it is disheartening that the little leftover being used for cultivation for their survival, has consistently come under invasion and destruction by cattle rearers; therefore called on the concerned authorities to prevail on cattle breeders in the area to stop what may affect the age-long harmonious relationship between the cattle breeders and host communities, if the destruction of their farmlands continues unabated.
