The National President of the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS), Bello Ibrahim Aliyu, who also confirmed the incident, described it as a “heinous and barbaric act” which is “strongly condemned in its entirety.”
Amale National Diploma II (ND II) student of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi, in Bauchi State, identified as Mr. Samuel Mbami, has been stabbed to death by armed hoodlums who attacked a students’ hostel in the school.
A source from the institution told SaharaReporters that the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when the unidentified armed hoodlum invaded the students' hostel around 3 a.m., raided rooms, and in the process stabbed Mbami, an ND II Mass Communication student, to death.
The National President of the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS), Bello Ibrahim Aliyu, who also confirmed the incident, described it as a “heinous and barbaric act” which is “strongly condemned in its entirety.”
“It is worrisome to note that this is coming barely days after a similar invasion at Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, though without loss of life. Such repeated attacks on innocent students are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” Aliyu said.
Aliyu said that while NUBASS commiserates with the family of the deceased, the management of ATAP and the entire student community, the union “urges all students to remain calm, law-abiding, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.”
“We must allow security agencies and the school authority to take charge of the situation,” he stressed.
He called on all relevant security agencies to immediately intensify investigations and ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.
“NUBASS remains committed to protecting the welfare, safety, and dignity of all Bauchi State students within and outside the state,” the statement said.
However, SaharaReporters’ attempts to get comments regarding the incident from the Bauchi State Police Command were unsuccessful.
