As the Saturday August 8th 2026 governorship election in Osun State draws nearer and continues to gather momentum, the guber aspiration of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) yesterday received a major boost as leaders and party faithfuls in Modakeke Area Office in Ife East endorsed the governorship ambition of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority.
It would be recalled that the AMBO Grassrooters led by the former chairman, Ede South Local Government, Elder Deji Agboola, had previously visited Ila, Boripe, Odo-Otin, Egbedore, Ifedayo, Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo, Irewole, Isokan, Ife North, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Orolu, Irepodun and Olorunda local governments, canvassing and mobilizing grassroots support for the Ikire-Born seasoned banker cum politician.
Hon. Kola Ajao, a former Chairman of Egbedore South LCDA, speaking on behalf of the group, introduced the team as an independent support group for the governorship aspiration of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji comprising past and present local government Chairmen and Chairpersons from 2017 till date. Ajao noted that the group's support for Oyebamiji stems from their believe in the party parading the best candidate ahead of the 2026 governorship election.He revealed that the group having considered experience, competence, loyalty, charisma, contributions to party development and welfare of party members, hence AMBO Grassrooters and allied groups endorsed Oyebamiji as the most credible candidate that would guarantee electoral success in favour of APC in the August 8th, 2026 gubernatorial election.
He extolled Oyebamiji's qualities as a selfless leader with positive character whose contributions to the party's stability, financial intelligence,charismatic leadership and administrative prowess having served as two terms former commissioner for finance, giving his best to ensure that the economy of Osun is stabilized for economic renaissance, financial re-engineering and the State is returned to full payment of salaries for workers across board.
In their reaction, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Modakeke and other leaders commended the team for their selfless campaigns preaching unity. He stated that the party appreciates the AMBO Grassrooters intellectual engagements and issue-based campaigns for Oyebamiji noting that the party's unity and internal cohession is pivotal to the success of the 2026 guber election.
Hon Wale Popoola and Chief Sakin Ajala in their respective remarks praised Oyebamiji for his unwavering commitment to the party at all levels revealing that Oyebamiji's credentials are a core progressive speaks for him. He urged for robust reward system after the party's potential victory at the 2026 polls revealing that Modakeke would stand with AMBO till he emerges the party's flagbearer and eventually as Governor of Osun in 2026.
They urged for an all inclusive reward system that would benefit every member of the APC just as they affirmed their conviction in the capacity of Oyebamiji to ensure the state's economic prosperity and infrastructural development.
Hon. Mojeed, Chairman Ife East Area Council, Modakeke thanked the team for the sensitization revealing that Modakeke overtime has been a hub of progressive politics and ideology from time immemorial, chunning out victory for the progressives at various elections, he added that 2026 would not be different as the Area Council would deliver overwhelmingly for the APC and it's flagbearer.
However, Hon.Kareem Ismael Akande,Former Special Adviser on Innovation, Science and Technology to Former Governor of Osun H.E Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola,now the current Minister of Blue and Marine Economy, maintained that Bola Oyebamiji remains the best man for good governance, infrastructural renewal, economic renaissance, sustainable and human capital development considering his integrity, professionalism and unmatched managerial, administrative and financial expertise having served as Commissioner of Finance as the engine room of good governance in quick succession in Osun State.
Similarly, Hon.Abiodun Adeyeye who is AMBO Coordinator and Vice Chairman of All Progressives Congress in Modakeke Area Office expressed enthusiasms, satisfaction and commended Engr.Kayode Sowade, Executive Director Engineering Services of Ogun Osun River Basin Development Authority who is supporting the party financially, provision of foods and periodic empowerment packages in the last three years.Engr.Sowade is a man of honour and embodiment of generosity towards all indigenes of the Modakeke Area Office and Ife East LG.
Responding, Hon. Akeem Tokede, former Chairman Boluwaduro LG assured leaders and members of the party of AMBO's commitment to the state's economic growth and the well-being of every citizens. He further revealed that Oyebamiji if chosen would prioritize healthcare, finance, agricultural sector and other faces of government which would have direct impact on the livelihood of Osun citizens.
