Tragedy struck the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Sunday when a Deputy Superintendent accidentally shot and killed his colleague in Abuja.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. at Life Camp while the officers were on their way from a hotel to the residence of a principal at Lias Estate.
Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, quoting sources, identified the victim as DSC Adekunle Emmanuel, who was struck on the left upper arm above the bicep by a bullet fired by his colleague.
He was immediately rushed to Maitama General Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead. His body has been deposited in the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Sources disclosed that the officer who pulled the trigger is now in custody and undergoing interrogation.
The incident comes barely two days after eight NSCDC operatives were killed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in the Okpella area of Edo State.
