According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, September 7, 2025, Omole Ridwan, a suspected member of a dreaded criminal gang operating in Ibadan, has been arrested alongside his accomplice, Adewumi Adegbile, by operatives of the Oyo State Police Command.
The gang was notorious for trailing individuals driving posh vehicles from clubs, malls, and event centres to their homes or destinations before dispossessing them of valuables.
Their operations, which had raised concerns in the state, came to a halt following the swift move by the police.
According to the spokesperson of the command, CSP Adewale Osifeso, who addressed journalists on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, the suspects were arrested during a special operation carried out by the Anti-Robbery section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ibadan.
He noted that the gang had been on the radar of security operatives for a while due to the violent nature of their activities.
Items recovered from the gang included a sophisticated AK-47 rifle with breech number 1057, an empty magazine, a double-barrel pistol, a fabricated gun, two cutlasses, and an axe.
These dangerous weapons, according to the police, had been used in their robbery operations across the city, leaving several victims in fear of their safety.
One of the suspects, Ridwan, aged 29, admitted during interrogation that he was aware of the criminal activities of the gang’s leader, identified as Sodiq, who is currently on the run.

He revealed that he met both Sodiq and another gang member, popularly called Oyin a.k.a Stone, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos.
However, he claimed that it was only Sodiq he reconnected with after regaining freedom.
Ridwan explained that he was originally from Ibadan but was born and raised in Lagos, he disclosed that he faced constant pressure from members of the Aye Confraternity to join them, but because he belonged to the rival Eiye Confraternity, clashes often occurred.
He added that two members of the Aye group were once arrested with a firearm and mentioned his name as the owner, which led to his arrest and imprisonment in 2018.
He further stated that he was eventually discharged in February 2024 after spending years at the Kirikiri prison.
According to him, his involvement in cultism dated back to 2010, when he was still in primary school.
He said he was lured into attending a party by a schoolmate, only to discover that it was an initiation ceremony into the Eiye Confraternity.
Ridwan narrated that he was just 14 years old when he became a member of the group, after leaving a private school to attend a government-owned primary school.
During his initiation, he was given the cult name “Okin,” which has since followed him into adulthood.
His connection with Sodiq after prison led to renewed associations that eventually attracted the attention of law enforcement authorities.
The suspect narrated: “I joined Eiye cult in 2010 when I was in Primary Five. I was about 14 years old then because I left private school for a government own, and had to start from Primary One. One of my school mates lured me to a party, only for me to discover that it was for cult initiation. That was how I became a cultist. I was given a bird name, Okin.
