Police Arrest Suspected @rmed Robber, Cultists in Osun; Recover Stolen Motorcycles


The Osun State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with cases of @rmed robbery, attempted murdér, and unlawful society membership across parts of the state. The arrests also led to the recovery of stolen motorcycles, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan.

Police said the first incident occurred on August 16, 2025, when a commercial motorcyclist reported being att@cked at a school in Ile-Ife after conveying a passenger later identified as Johnson Olagoke, 23. The victim was allegedly ambushed by Olagoke’s accomplices, beaten until he lost consciousness, and dispossessed of his motorcycle, ₦17,850 cash, a Tecno phone, and a handbag.

Two days later, on August 18, another motorcyclist reported a similar incident involving the same suspect. Olagoke allegedly obtained ₦5,000 under false pretence before att@cking the victim from behind, leaving him unconscious and making away with his motorcycle, a Tecno Spark 9F phone, and ₦10,650. Following investigations by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Olagoke was arrested and two stolen motorcycles were recovered. Police said he is cooperating with investigators to track down accomplices still at large.

In a separate development, the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command arrested six suspected cult members after a vi0lent clash at a higher institution in Iree on September 8. The confrontation, reportedly between members of the Buccaneers confraternity and rival groups, involved gùnfire that left two students injured.

Three suspects — Oluwadamilare Temitope (23), Ayodeji John (24), and Adepoju Adesoji (27) — were arrested at the scene, while another operation on September 9 led to the arrest of three more suspects: Yusuf Abeeb (24), Fatai Quadri (24), and Lateef Abiodun (23).

The Police Command said investigations are ongoing and all suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion.
