The Director-General and National Coordinator of Renewed Hope for the Elderly, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun, has extended warm congratulations and best wishes to the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on the occasion of her 66th birthday.
Dr. Olaonipekun, in a goodwill message marking the First Lady’s birthday, described Senator Oluremi Tinubu as a woman of virtue, compassion and purposeful service whose contributions to society have touched the lives of numerous Nigerians, particularly women, children, widows, farmers and senior citizens.
According to him, Senator Tinubu’s commitment to humanitarian service and social development predates her current role as First Lady of Nigeria, noting that her years of public service have been characterised by initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and opportunities available to vulnerable and underserved members of society.
He recalled her contributions through the New Era Foundation during her years of service in Lagos State, describing the foundation’s interventions as part of a broader legacy of concern for the welfare and development of families and communities.
“From the New Era Foundation during our years in the saddle in Lagos State to the Renewed Hope Initiative today, your care has reached many young boys and girls, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across the country,” Dr. Olaonipekun stated.
He said the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) under the leadership of the First Lady has continued to provide a platform for interventions focused on various segments of the Nigerian population, particularly those who require additional support and opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
Dr. Olaonipekun noted that the elderly remain an important component of the nation's population and deserve dignity, care, inclusion and meaningful participation in national development.
He therefore commended the First Lady for drawing attention to the needs of senior citizens and other vulnerable groups, saying that initiatives directed toward improving their welfare contribute to building a society in which citizens can age with dignity and hope.
The Director-General further acknowledged the importance of women-focused interventions, especially those designed to support women farmers and entrepreneurs, noting that empowering women has implications for household welfare, community development and economic participation.
“Your Excellency, your journey in public service reflects a consistent concern for people. Your interventions have provided support to different categories of Nigerians and have continued to demonstrate the importance of compassion in leadership,” he said.
He added that the occasion of Senator Tinubu’s 66th birthday provides an opportunity not only to celebrate her personal milestone but also to acknowledge her years of service and advocacy for social welfare.
Dr. Olaonipekun prayed for the First Lady’s continued good health, wisdom, strength and fulfilment as she carries out her responsibilities in service to the nation.
He also expressed optimism that her commitment to humanitarian and social interventions would continue to inspire greater attention to the welfare of elderly Nigerians, women, children, widows and other vulnerable citizens.
